“Who Will Stop The Rain?”
– John Fogerty –
We’re on our fourth day of non-stop rain now. There really is no break at all, it’s either pouring or drizzling! It doesn’t bode well for adventuring on Holiday tomorrow although I have searched at least seven forecasts now, and found one that’s favorable so I think I’ll stick with that…
There’s really only one thing to do when it rains. Blog about it (because I’m English) and take the macro lens outside whilst wearing pyjamas and no shoes, and lie in the flowerbed photographing flowers.
Tomorrow will hopefully be completely different – sun, sea and fluffy white clouds! Or at least that’s what we wish for. But there will definitely be some seascapes here and there and the odd historical sight that’s a given. But do be patient because the blogs will likely be quite sporadic! I’m taking internet with me (yes you can do that in a little dongly wongly!) but might have to build up my photos across two days. We shall see!
So for now, that’s it from me! Rest assured I will be taking more than one photo a day across the next five or so days – see you on the other side!
Love the blues. My favourite colour in the garden probably due to these flowers. I like the softness of these photos. Just listened to the song “I can’t stand the rain…” how many of us think that now?
Probably far too many!
very like the way you shot these photos, the color is amazing.
Thank you :) .
Who will stop the rain?
I like that phrase.
No one can do it.
Nature is one of the things on earth no one can control it.
I like the drops of rain on the blue flowers. They look nice.
I love it too!
Nobody can :(
Love it.
Wow… so nice! I hope I can do that kind of photography also.. so wonderful.
Beautiful blue colours. I’ve just written a blog about rain, we can’t escape it here in Britain!
Hope it cheers up for you next week
We definitely can’t – fingers crossed we get a late summer!
Lovely, lovely photos. Rain sounds good to me at this point. We live in Budapest, and it’s been 35 degrees for almost a week now, and the forecast is for 6 more days of this. I could use some cool rain right about now.
Oh gosh, I hope you get rain soon!
And I thought Melbourne was bad. I’ll never complain again! ;)
Hahah! I thought you guys had pretty decent weather!
Yes, it’s usually not too bad. (I’ve been told millions of times not to exaggerate!) Winter now, so we’ve also had that annoying endless light drizzle with occasional heavier breaks since last week.
BUT… Life’s not about avoiding the storms. It’s about learning to dance in the rain!
Great photos, great opportunities. Go wild! :)
Ha! I find when it comes to the weather, the English are the biggest exaggerators.
That’s exactly it, I used that quote some weeks ago when blogging actually, surprisingly, it was raining. ;)
Great shots
Thank you!
Wonderful photos Kathryn! Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! Well done!
Thank you! I had no idea what you meant, and then noticed all the comments and likes! Thank you :D
What beautiful photos – blue flowers are my absolute favourite!
Thank you! I love the purple and blue ones myself too! :)
Beautiful pictures! What camera do you use? I love this post!
Oh thank you so much! I just recently bought a Sony A57 – I love it! Would thoroughly reccomend it :)
beautiful pictures! congrats on being Freshly Pressed :)
Thank you! :)
The flowers look beautiful, even in the rain. Summers, Wimbledon and rain. Get the strawberries out, some Pimms. Chill and relax has been my motto.I could do with going camping but the rain has put a rain check on those plans. Been to a few museums as a result.Have learnt a bit of history & culture as a result! Beautiful account of our summer though.
That’s the true essence of a British Summer really isn’t it, you’ve summed it up right there. Hope the museums are keeping you busy :)
They have, the lids loved them. I even managed to make a fool of myself and fell asleep
whilst we were watching something about the moon, and stars, the Northern star, in a dimly lit room. They woke me up after the show! And
everyone had a right giggle
Oh gosh, that’s awful! :P
Have u been counting the days? Just a thought
Days?? :)
Have u been counting the days? Just a thought
Lovely photos and great British sentiment. I think its a very British thing to do to wander outside inappropriately dressed and get carried away- certainly I do!
Crazy British! But it’s worth it for photography :)
Agreed!!
I’d lie in the beds in the wet and the morning to get such images too! Beautiful ty for smile this morning!!! Looooooooooooooove water drops and dew!
wow — beautiful
Thank you! :) :)
Amazing pictures! I just love the colours!
Thank You Francesca!
beautiful! :)
Ditto!
The photos are amazing! I love taking pictures of flowers and find myself in the garden more than photographing people!
I love the rain… but not for 4 days!!
Thank you! It’s a much easier subject than people ;)
The water companies brought it on with their hose pipe ban – perhaps they could do something to stop it? Wonderful photos apart from your own skill what equipment do you use?
Indeed!
I use Sony DSLR’s – this particular blog entry was created using a Sony A57 (recent purchase that I’m in love with!) but generally I use A55 as well, couple of lens’s and some filters here and there :)
Beautiful photography! Yes, it is a pity about the rain but hope your holiday won’t be spoilt.
Oh no, if it’s raining I’ll go with the moody black and white photos :D
Gorgeous photography! I thought I was the only one so captivated with nature that I would wander in pjs and bare feet. My husband sees it as a mild form of insanity that doesn’t hurt anything. :)
Living in south Texas, we’d love to trade some of our sunshine for some of your rain.
Oh no, there are definitely enough of us to start a weirdo group, I’m pretty sure!
Hope you get some rain soon :)
Thank you for the exquisite photos! They gave me a momentary escape. Here in Southwest Wisconsin, we’ve broken the record set back in 1895 for our driest June ever. We had 3 tenths of an inch of rain for the whole month, and that came at the beginning. We’re also in an extreme heat wave with 100F today (82F is normal). We would be elated to come to your assistance as we are asking:
“Who’ll start the rain?”
I wish you a lovely, dry holiday!
Oh wow I can’t imagine that – I really hope you get some rain soon!
Lovely shots! I really am sick of the rain too, especially when people around the world are posting sunny posts!
I know – it’s quite tiring!
Thank you for sharing ,i like nice post
Gorgeous! Congrats on being Freshly Pressed – hope you have lots of sunny days ahead! :-)
Thank you very very much! :)
Articles with original information like yours are an uncommon occurrence. I enjoyed how you used your own unique writing style to make you points clear.
gorgeous!
Thank you Nicole :)
Yes, too much rain now. Your pics are beautiful.
I agree!
And thank you :)
Beautiful photos! They look wonderful! I have always loved photos like these. Flowers and stuff with water drops hanging from it. They look so beautiful and I feel so happy! :)
It’s certainly interesting – especially what you can capture in the water drops :)
Awesome photo’s, love the blue !!!
Thank you – I think the blue really makes these :)
The blue is a plus ofcourse but even in black and white the pictures would be awesome too !
Absolutely brilliant! To think rain can make images so beautiful…

Beautiful photos. Btw, send some rain my way…we are so in need of it here. :-)
I think we definitely have some to spare!
We are having a very rainy summer here on Vancouver Island, so far. Your gorgeous photos make me want to run out and take some “drippy” shots. I have caught some interesting mushrooms on camera!
Oh I’d love to see the mushroom pictures if you have them up somewhere..? :)
I posted them recently on my Facebook timeline.
Wow, these are beautiful!! I love the rain too much I think. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you..!
Beautiful images. Rain sounds lovely. Can’t wait for the monsoon to start here in the Southwest.
Love the color and comp in these …wonderful work !!
Thank you Bernie!
Fantastic photo’s! Good work.
One Rain song that always comes to me is Cyndi Lauper’s ” Who Let in The Rain”. Love the quality of her voice the best in that one.
I hope that the rain will soon fall for all of those areas of the US that are burning……
I just had a listen to that -it’s the first time I’ve heard it. Lovely piece of music!
Ah, typical England :) Lovely photos
Indeed it is! :D Thank you :)
Love these photos! Really beautiful!! I know you used Sony A57, but may I know also what lens did you use here? : )
Thank you!
Of course – It’s a Sony 30mm F2.8 Macro Lens :)
Love the pics. They are works of art!
Thank you very much!

Thank you very very much :)
Nice shots!! :)
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Great photos! I suggest listening to Yiruma’s Kiss the Rain to have that full effect ^^
Oh gosh, that’s one of my favourite piano pieces of all time! Einaudi is a close second!
Really??? That’s one of my favorites, too! I love Yiruma’s pieces! Will try to listen to Einaudi.
I think it’s ‘Maybe’ by him that I like too – really nice. But yes do, Einaudi is very similar – Le Onde is lovely!
Oh, I like Maybe, Kiss the Rain, and River Flows in You. Thank you for suggesting others!
One word. “AWESOME”
Thank youu!
Gorgeous shots!
Thanks Jill!
You’ve made me look harder for beauty in the rain! Nice job!
Excellent :) it’s there!
I can certainly relate. Here in Northwest Florida, it rains all year, every few days–especially in the summer. But the rain is beautiful, I must admit–especially what remains on flowers and trees. And your photographs certainly show this!
Wow! I guess I’ve always come over at the right time to miss that rainy!
Thank you :)
Thanks for making us travel with you through your beautiful photos!
Pleased to have you here! :)
sigh… love rain… love your photos… great talent…. keep it up! congrats on being FP’d.. :)
Thank you very much!!!!
Great shots ! I just love nature photography though I am a novice in photography field. Your this and other posts will go a long way in helping me to learn the depth of field aspect of floral photography. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad to be of help!
Love the photos! I am English too but away from home at the moment! I wrote a blog about rain just 2 posts ago! Quite a different opinion on it though!!! I hope it brightens up for your hols. Will keep watching your blog for amazing photos! Take care, Judy
Thank you! I look forward to seeing yours! :)
You made the rain even more beautiful with your great post and lovely shots!
Thank you!!!!!!
Worthy to bookmark…
Thank you Joshua!
Awesome pictures. What kind of flowers are they? The blue was really enhanced by the rain drops.
What an inspiration you are. When in rains here, I don’t even want to venture out the door, so I take my hat off to you for being so motivated! Beautiful shots and definitely worth while stepping out.
Oh, these are absolutely gorgeous!!! Funny how the rain can make things seem more beautiful. Congrats on being Freshly pressed!
It’s a very beautiful article.

it’s a very beautiful article.
Gorgeous pictures- absolutely stunning!
I stared at this photos for a while…so beautyful! =)
Just think what would have happened if it wasn’t raining – the colours and water droplets are absolutely mesmerizing. What a gorgeous post – and don’t worry about blogging about the weather… in Canada we do it all the time, too!
Chin up and wait for the sun – we have had a very wet spring and now we are melting in the hot sum and shade every day, while hoping that we don’t have tornadoes touching down at dusk. Last week was very unpredictable!
Beautiful photos! I love seeing the beauty even though it is raining. Rain may be annoying at times but without it we wouldn’t have flowers or anything of the sort.
Beautiful! Love how it’s one color throughout.
love the colours.
Nice Article
Surprisingly, not that I have a lot remaining, but I had been pulling my hair out on the lookout for something on the subject of this topic today then simply right when I found myself gonna surrender your website turns up out of the blue
Beautiful photos! Hope the rain stops! Looking forward to the next post!
Beautiful!!!
Those are great photos. You seem to have a talent for photography. The colors (blues) are great.
inspiring composition.thanks

the raindrops created a charm to the blue flowers
Gosh! I am impressed! You have the talent … Congrats being freshly pressed!
wow!
I Am Going To have to come back again when my course load lets up however I am getting your Feed so i can go through your web blog offline. Thanks.
Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
