I woke up this morning to find that I was longing for Autumn. There will be less rain, for starters. I might also have woken up because the smoke alarm was going off due to Mother cooking breakfast. She reads this blog so I’m obliged to say we have a sensitive smoke alarm – and it wasn’t her cooking!

The news this morning is telling us that normal summer weather is set to kick in shortly. However that’s not before we have a few days of heavy rain and storms first. I can’t honestly remember a year like it.

I often thought that leaves were boring things to photograph. That’s likely because each time I think about doing a series, the title A study of leaves pops into my head and honestly what could be more dull? But actually, capturing them in the right moment, at the right time, provides quite a shot. I won’t pretend I’ve got that shot yet – but it’s great to aim towards!
