“You can look at a picture for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all your life.”
– Joan Miró –

Today I took my Grandad out for a drive into the hills of Berkshire and in some respects a trip down memory lane. We passed through a place where he remembered having dinner with the High Sheriff years and years ago when he was a Detective – it was fascinating to hear the stories that he told.

We drove first to the Hotel that my Uncle and his Fiance will be getting married at in May this year. It’s a beautiful place – one that I’ve blogged about before and will be sure to be posting lots of pictures of in May!

Then we headed into the hills properly, driving through Faccombe and Linkenholt – the village that sold for 25 million in 2009. It was reportedly bought by the Owner of the H & M retail chain – Stefan Persson. Linkenholt is one of those villages that you can drive in and out of in just a few short minutes and then never see another soul on the roads.

That wasn’t the case today – with the beautiful sunshine and positively tropical temperatures of +6 degrees celcius the entire world and his dog was out walking in the hills. When we arrived at the most wonderful viewpoints though i.e. me driving us onto the edge of a filed – it was so quiet and peaceful it felt like another world.

On the edge of one of the fields beneath a breath-taking view we happened across what appeared to be a Buzzard hunting. Whilst he was on the ground he blended well into the colours around him but when he took flight the wing span was epic. I got a few shots, but nothing of excellent quality.

The day was successful with both Photography and with spending some well earned quality time with my Grandad. We didn’t get to drink our flask of coffee whilst exploring so we had that back at home – which was much warmer anyway! Next time we’re planning to head to the Coast and do some snapping in Portsmouth!
