Day 200: Dragonfly Storms

To combat the hot weather and the muggy-ness (and the 90% humidity) we’ve been blowing an industrial sort of fan from the doorway into the house to bring in some cool air. It works, a little bit – for example the other evening we used it to balance all the stuffing that Buddy had ripped from his brand new pheasant toy. Then we turned it on. Oh the fun!

But today it became a dragonfly lure, just before the second storm of the day hit we noticed that dragonflys were starting to hover around the back of the fan, lured by the blowy bits.

Unfortunately they were too quick for the camera and disappeared pretty sharpish when the rain came – to be fair I would have done too, it was heavy enough to knock birds out of the sky let alone dragonflys!

So I ended up shooting the rainfall instead, and that didn’t work out too badly either actually… I’ve tried photographing droplets since forever and just managed it randomly today.

Day 130: Trees and Weather

I’m off to work this evening until tomorrow afternoon and so the blog tomorrow may be a little lacking! I’ll aim to get photographs when I can. But today’s photos were spotted yesterday, and we revisited on the way to do Very Important House Related Things at the bank. The conditions were actually just about right with stormy clouds rolling in and the occasional splash of sunshine.

I’ve had my eye on this tree for quite some time as it just seems to sit perfectly on a slight hill – it’ll be amazing with a sunset as a backdrop but that’s for another day. Whilst getting blown around and sneezing constantly because of the beautiful yellow fields, I got these photos!
