“Blessed be the Sunshine, for it will stem the flow of life’s anxieties … for a while at least”
― P.A.Davies

I don’t think Americans quite do it in the same way as us Brits…but we do these things called ‘Carboot sales’ from the backs of our cars on sunny afternoons in the countryside – and actually make a fair bit! It’s a good few years since we did a sale though, so I had forgotten how much people are on you the minute you arrive and start unloading the car (and that’s before the visitors have even arrived!)

A pitch at our local weekly carboot sale costs just £7 for a car – so we took two in and had a van as well and we came away with a nice tidy £324 split between three couples. It was pretty good! There is a lot leftover to sort out though, bric a brac and bits like that, but all in all we didn’t do too badly.

The weather was gorgeous – still is in fact, and I’m determined to enjoy the rest of it with a book and a bit of studying later on. Oh and perhaps a game or two of ‘Sequence’ – anyone ever heard of that one? (Photo taken last night)

“I used to cover my windows in heavy curtains, never drawn. Now I danced in the sunlight on my hardwood floors.”
― Kimberly Novosel

We headed to the meadow again today to see what damage had been done after Friday nights storm. It was actually a lot less wet this time around and the new wellies held out a lot better than the old ones! The sun was shining so everything looked beautiful despite the wreckage of fallen trees and flooded boggy bits.

We’ve lost a few trees since Friday, fairly big ones too. It’s quite sad to see because they’ve been there for so many years. A lot of work will be going on in the spring to dredge the lakes and remove the fallen trees. As well as this, we’ll hopefully have new trenches dug to make use of the free flowing water and create some more wet areas for the wildlife to enjoy.

William spent a great deal of time filming the meadow from the air which hopefully means that an awesome video will be available in the near future! In the meantime he let me have a few stills..

Unfortunately, the photography was cut short when I fell and damaged my Achilles/Tendon thingybobs. A quick visit to A & E and a few hours of hobbling later – and I’m bright eyed and editing my photos plus writing this blog!
