Engagement marks the end of a whirlwind romance and beginning of an eternal love story.

In the midst of the heatwave, something wonderful happened! Almost a week ago we ventured to the meadow in the early morning (because it was the best time to beat the heatwave!) with our coffees in hand, and Maisy, and sat watching the view.

In the quiet, in the very place where we had our first ‘date’ almost six years ago to the day, William proposed and I, absolutely of course, said YES!

This will be a story we will always tell because even today somewhere on that meadow is a tiny little diamond (I mean little, it was one of the side diamonds and you’ll never find it!) Seconds after putting the ring on my finger we both looked down and realised that one of the small diamonds on the side of the ring had vanished… We both looked at each other in shock, then down at the dog (no she wasn’t interested, she faced the opposite way the whole time) and then we contemplated the tiny sugar crystals on the bench that we had shaken into our coffee. No way… short of dissolving each one until we were sure, it was impossible! Alls well that ends well, another ring is on order and I am not parted from this one just yet – but what a story we have for the next heatwave!

In true organised form (me), we launched ourselves into searching, planning, hunting down venues and in general, just thinking of ideas and celebrating with family and friends – and it’s all very exciting. standby for more news on that pesky heatwave, but I couldn’t get away without blogging for so long and then NOT coming back with the big news first… !

“All because two people fell in love…”

Lots of planning and perfection went into last nights party which was to celebrate my parents thirty years of marriage (what a milestone!) The weather was perfect, the lights were wonderful, food amazing and the guests were fabulous.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day – the only thing that would have finished it all off in the bestest way was if Grandad could have been there. However he had lots of visitors throughout the weekend which was more than we could ask for! (I just realised I don’t have a photo of my parents together on the evening – here’s a few lovely guests instead!

Cream tea was in abundance at three PM with a splash of Pimms available for those who wanted it too. The scones were amazing and there were so many!

The evening was great, a little chilly for August but the Fire Pits kept us warm and the lighting later on in the evening warmed the garden up slightly. The BBQ was amazing, thank goodness a caterer was brought in though because there were many hungry mouths to feed and lots of prep to do! The tidying up…..not so fun ;)

My parents didn’t want gifts and asked that anyone who wanted to, put a donation in the tin for Alzheimers UK and a charity walk that my sister is doing. We raised over £200…. amazing, incredibly generosity from everybody involved so thank you for that as well! If you would like to donate please visit this page.

And bless our little Maisy who didn’t last the evening, choosing to curl up inside on the sofa by herself…
