The quote is very true, in order to get a semi-decent shot of a wild bird you have to be almost completely silent. So a few quick moments of quiet yesterday meant that I was able to grab these shots from inside the house and with the use of the trusty tele-photo lens. No tripod though – apologies for the slight blur. Spotted Woodpeckers are rare in the gardens around here, especially ones that linger for a time being so it was particularly nice to get these shots!
