βIn every out thrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.β
β Rachel Carson-
It’s taken me the longest time in the history of being a ‘photographer’ to upload these photos. Two whole days! They were taken on Monday after we ventured out for some storm shots. However since then I have been in such agony with a poorly tooth that I haven’t been able to concentrate on much. After an even more agonizing visit to the dentist yesterday afternoon, I’m back on track – almost!
We decided to be brave and head to the coast on Monday, where the wind was still battering the beaches. Lepe is a beautiful part of the South Coast and is the shortest distance between the mainland and the Isle of Wight. It was -very- windy. But worth it!
Much of the coastal road was flooded too which added to the experience, as did trying to eat a few chips whilst walking along. Once the seagulls started circling we abandoned that idea and headed for the safety of the car. Afterwards though, a walk along the beach brought some great views with it.
As did trekking home the long way through the New Forest. Trees were down, roads were closed and there was a fair bit of flooding both within the forest and on the roads through. After a few impromptu turnarounds we did a full circle back towards Lepe and got an amazing view of Fawley Power Station with a rainbow framing it nicely. (Photos probably don’t do it justice!)
