“When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and White, you photograph their souls.”
-Ted Grant
I forget too often, the beauty of working in Black and White Photography – and every so often a gentle nudge from something inspiring points me in the monochromatic direction again, and actually I’m grateful. Seeing things devoid of colour can almost change an image completely. Very quickly it can become something else, or show something or even hide something that was there before.

Usually when I want a black and white Photograph, I post-process it in photoshop. I fiddle with the levels, the tones, the highlights and the exposure until it’s how I want it to be. But I under-use the black and white functions on my camera, low – key, high contrast and so on. So today I used them instead, mostly.

At this time of year, there isn’t much in the Garden that I haven’t already Photographed. However the thorns on the remains of the rose bush I think, haven’t been done before!
