“Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.”
― Anne Frank
Monday’s mean back to work and not much opportunity to Photograph anything! The highlight of my day (apart from coming home and making the house cosy) was seeing the lamposts outside ready to have (hopefully) lamps on top of them! However most people here have had to wait more than two years for lights to be switched on so we’re not counting our chickens just yet… it’s amazing what a difference the night sky is though, without streetlights. It will be sad when that’s lost… but nice to be able to walk around without falling over and bumping into things!
I sorted out my candles this evening (it’s a collection, not a hoard) and realised that actually I don’t need to buy a candle ever again probably in my whole life. I have years of burning hours just in two huge baskets… Although I will always welcome candle gifts! I stopped buying the large Yankee Candle jars some time ago because they’re too expensive and I’ve started making my own… a small jar that used to contain coffee costs just £2.50 – add a ‘votive’ et voila, you have a candle (or I have a candle, too many in fact…!)
