“Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths.”
― George R.R. Martin
I love this time of year. Even if the weather is unusually warm (25 degrees c today!) the signs of Autumn most definitely aren’t letting us down.
I’m reading a book at the moment that is giving me an actual physical headache. That’s never happened before! I can’t 100% say that it’s the book, not for definite, but all signs point to it… It’s called “The Fifteen Lives of Harry August.”
I bought it because I love the word August, it’s as close to Autumn as possible in look and spelling and the cover has a bit of orange in, which is Autumnal. I judge books by their covers…of course. Then, flip over, and the blurb hints that it might be sort of ‘Time travellers wife’ ish…which of course wins my heart everytime.
So I got it, and I started it. The start was slow, I’ve read three books in the past week in quick succession, in between them all I started this one, falsely everytime. Having nothing left to read whatsoever (empty bookshelves, I swear), in desperation I turned back to this non-starter. And got a headache. But I can’t put it down, could you put a book down that constantly has the lines, “Then I died again.” (Or words to that effect.)
Honestly though, don’t ‘not buy’ it because of the headache, it’s probably the best most awesomely induced headache I’ve had in such a long time…
