“Some people grumble that roses have thorns; I am grateful that thorns have roses.”
― Alphonse Karr
Since there were so many stormy shots to be had over the past few days, I saved up my Valentines Rose to be photographed today. It’s beautiful! So beautiful that I had to go and get a vase just to house it in, and now it’s even more beautiful.
I’m very lucky, especially as William did the 64 mile drive to me at the weekend in the storms, with the Rose, eyes streaming because we both get terrible hay fever! I also got a gorgeous charm for my bracelet, but I shall save that to be photographed another day – and a lovely card.
William always picks out the best cards, with a butterfly on (even at Christmas!) and I’ve saved them all. The pile is small at the moment, but as the years progress hopefully they will increase… ;)
Lovely pictures. ~Wet windows and the colours set it off nicely.
Had to spray the windows with the water bottle! Not enough rain for once :D
What a beautiful red rose! Personally, I prefer the shot of the rose without the rain – or is the rain supposed to symbolise Williams tears? He sounds such a thoughtful person. If he was a flower would he be a Sweet William? :)
Ahah, the rain is just me being a bit artsy with a spray bottle ;) Although I find it ironic all the rain we’ve had, and I had to use a bottle to get the effect I wanted on the window! He is a thoughtful person indeed :)
These are seriously amazing photos! Topping that off with a backdrop of a rainy window is sheer brilliance. I really like how the bright colored rose contrasts with the mildly colored window, and yet the picture seems to be so lively!
Thank you! I do like my windows as backdrops, if I could use them always with my photography, then I would :D thanks for the lovely comment !
Lovely photos. I realize you must be sick of the rain, but it provides an excellent backdrop for the rose.
Oh it does :) less rain now which is good!
