“To finish first you must first finish.”

The great thing about having an unwritten bucket list, is that you can add things to it that you’ve already done! That counts too right? I never ever dreamed that I would find myself flying in a helicopter above the town that I live in, watching a British Touring Car Championship…but you know what? It did happen!
I’m quite wary of high things, high staircases, high hills, cliffs…and in the hour that I had from deciding to fly, to actually doing it, all sorts of thoughts were flying through my mind. But I think having less time to worry and more time to get the camera ready helped a fair bit.
For my boyfriends Birthday, I’ve been planning four weekends of ‘awesome things.’ Watching the championship at Thruxton was the first. We could teasingly hear the qualifying from my house, the day before – and on the actual day the weather was perfect (sunburningly so). So all elements came together to make it an absolutely amazing day. I also appreciate now, how hard it is to capture sports photography. I’ve come home to around 1000 of my shots JUST missing the car I was aiming at….!
Lucky you! The track at Thruxton is a very good one for the British Touring cars! When Speed Channel first started, they carried the British Touring car races, and they were one of my favorites. But then, Speed Channel became Speedvision, and they went to our boring NASCAR races, so I can longer watch exciting racing.
