“Just because something is traditional is no reason to do it, of course.”
― Lemony Snicket,
It’s raining, the wind has picked up across the course of the day, the heating has been switched on for the first time since the beginning of the year and the smell of roast dinners is wafting on the breeze. That’s the general scene across England right now as many families sit down to their traditional Sunday roast.
If you’re really lucky or unlucky to venture outside – then the smell of woodsmoke also mingles in the air as many turn to their log fires this evening for a bit of extra warmth. It’s Autumn, of that we can be sure.
We rarely have roast dinners these days so it’s nice when the smells fill the house and the warmth is felt in the kitchen. It’s a tradition, one that we don’t keep for most of the year but one that it’s always nice to remember!
