“If you still think you’re a young pup then you are, no matter what the calendar says”
― John Grogan
The best thing about waking up so early (5:30am today) is that dogs don’t care. They’ll get out of their beds and come and say hi regardless of what time it is. And, if it’s Buddy in particular, he’ll get his toys out and ask to play in the garden. With the sun shining I thought it was only right that I took advantage and got the camera out as well.
I had great plans for today that involved exploring some of the country tracks in another village – but they appear to be somewhat scuppered by the cramp that woke me up at such a ridiculous hour. The punishment for not drinking enough water it seems! Once cramp goes and you get over the fact that you’re not going to die, there’s a dull ache left behind. Frustrating to say the least.
Both Buddy & Star have always succeeded in brightening things up though. Star, being the wise old lady that she is now, sat in her bed and watched through the doorway as Buddy pranced around. She’s had the camera pointed in her face for years, it was time for a break.
Buddy’s getting used to, I expect those who have followed my blog for a long time, have seen most of these poses before. But there’s just something about having dogs, that makes you think they are unique every time they do something cute. And perhaps in our hearts, they are.
The quote today comes from the book Marley & Me. Of course, it’s a famous movie now. However I read the book long before it hit the big screen thanks to my Grandmother presenting it to me one Birthday. If you’ve not seen it, and you love dogs, then I urge you to. If you also love Jennifer Aniston, that also helps!
So I dub these series of shots, Buddy and I. This, because I could never understand how the Americans could get away with publishing a movie with a title that was inherently and grammatically wrong. ;)
