I absolutely love water, and one of my favourite subjects to photograph is the sea – or indeed lakes. It’s mostly the surroundings rather than anything else that make it relaxing and calming, but looking at the shots afterwards is always quite peaceful. But it has been a long time since I ventured down to the coast. I used to go frequently with the camera, just to shoot randomly whether there was a sunset or stormy skies. But these days life just doesn’t seem to allow the time!

 

I think though, that I’m saving myself for when I get to go away at the beginning of July to an Island which will of course be surrounded by amazing views and breath-taking coast lines. For now though, it was great today to remember that just around the corner is a nature reserve that holds beautiful lakes and a wonderful walk.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) the area is now designated fragile, and thus dogs have to be kept on leads. I only took Buddy with me, but since he’s used to the meadow and running free, he was a bit perturbed at being yanked back every time he got to the end of his lead. That means it was rare I got a shot that didn’t look like someone had come along and nudged me halfway through!

One of my first greatest achievements photographically, was capturing a shot at the lakes similar to the first ones used in this blog entry. The sky was reflected just perfectly in the water, it was like glass it was so still. I often thought, that by achieving that I had nothing more to photograph in the same location. But the land is ever changing.
